How many models will I get to work with?
On the second day of the workshop, each student will be placed into groups of 4 (5 groups total) as we begin our Sunrise Shoot. Each of the 5 groups will be directed to a shooting station with 2 models at each station, and each student will take turns shooting both models for 8-10 minutes uninterrupted. While shooting, students can request assistance from their other group members or the group moderator (to help with lighting, reflectors, etc).
At the end of each 45-minute session, each student will have shot both models and the groups will rotate to the next shooting station (all stations will have 2 models). By the end of the Sunrise Shoot, each student will have worked with all 10 models in 5 different settings.
We then break for lunch before heading to Little River Studios for our Afternoon Shoot. You’ll repeat the same group rotation at the new location with 10 new models. By the end of the day, you’ll have shot all 20 models while never repeating a location, scene, or swimsuit.
If you stay all 4 days, you’ll join us on Sunday when we shoot our final 10 models at Stardust Studios. It’s an epic location full of variety, between it’s indoor and outdoor settings, you won’t want to miss!
Do we get to know who the models will be in advance?
Unfortunately, due to the revolving door of models who come in and out of Miami throughout the busy season (Dec-April), it’s very difficult to book them far in advance. About two weeks prior to the workshop, we reach out to all of the local agencies and choose from the models they can guarantee will be available. You’ll just have to trust Joey’s taste on this one.
I really want to save my seat, but I can’t swing the full Workshop fee now–Can I put down a deposit?
You sure can! We understand that the Workshop is a big (but important) investment, so to make it easier on you. You can elect to pay half of the total fee as a deposit for your seat, which comes out to $1,875 (3 Days) or $2,625 (4 Days). Please note that because of the work needed to book the event, your original payment method will automatically be charged for the remaining balance 30 days after the initial deposit is made or 15 days prior to the start of the Workshop (whichever comes first). You can find this 2-payment option on the payment page.
Is there a refund/cancellation policy?
Because our event is small and our models & permits are booked in advance based on the number of attendees, refunds will not be issued. With that said, your seat is transferable so you are welcome to give or sell it to another photographer!
Do I have to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn?
It is not mandatory but probably your most convenient and affordable option if you’re coming from out of town (unless you have a friend you can stay with close by). To help with your costs, we’ve negotiated special rates with the hotel. Since we have fairly early start times in the morning, it’s much nice to simply head down from your room to join the group… rather than getting up extra early and dealing with rush hour traffic.
What if it rains?
The workshop dates have been chosen based on historically sunny weather. We have indoor and covered areas at our afternoon location as a backup. Either way, the show must go on and we will do everything we can to produce a great workshop!
Is there a referral program?
Yes, we offer a referral program! If you refer someone who signs up for our workshop, you’ll receive a $150 refund on your workshop fee as our way of saying thank you. Just make sure they mention your name in the confirmation form after checkout.
Will Joey be hosting any other workshops in the future?
The success of each workshop determines the planning of future workshops. With that said, Joey plans to host at least one workshop per year.
